Oksana Chusovitina misses Olympic Games in Paris due to her injury
Gymnast Oksana Chusovitina reported on May 23 that she was injured and would not be able to participate in the Asian Championships in Tashkent, which is a qualifier for the Olympic Games in Paris.
“I won’t be able to compete in these competitions. I’m very sorry, I prepared for a very long time, returned to the all-around and wanted to perform in my homeland, in front of our public, but, unfortunately, you won’t see my performance, I will be rooting for our girls,” the athlete said in her video message.
She was injured while performing floor exercises during the championship tryout.
Chusovitina is the 1992 Olympic champion in the team competition, silver medalist of the 2008 Games in vault, three-time world champion, European champion, and Asian Games champion. She was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the only gymnast in the world to have competed in the Olympic Games eight times in a row (1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020).
