Nexia-2 fell into a canal in Syrdarya, five people drowned
So far, the bodies of four people have been found. MES officers are searching for another body.
The driver of the Nexia-2 car lost control and drove into a canal in the city of Shirin, Syrdarya region. According to the press service of the regional police department, the incident occurred on June 17, 2024.
The incident occurred while driving across the bridge over the South Mirzachul canal, connecting the M. Ulugbek mahalla of the city of Shirin with the Nurobod mahalla.
As a result, Nexia-2 fell into the canal, and its driver and 4 passengers in the car were unable to get out and drowned.
The bodies of the driver and three passengers and the car were found and removed from the water during rescue operations carried out by divers of the emergency rescue team of the Syrdarya region.
Currently, rescue team divers are trying to find the body of another passenger in the canal.
It is noted that the investigative department of the Syrdarya regional DIA opened a criminal case under Paragraph “a” of Part 3 of Article 266 (Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles, resulting in human casualties) of the Criminal Code. An investigation is currently underway.
