MP Alisher Kodirov urges people to be grateful for new increased electricity tariffs
According to the politician, the price of 1 kWh of electricity is 990 UZS, and the new tariffs should be seen as assistance.
In recent days, the new electricity tariffs and the introduction of social norms have been hotly debated on social media.
Users are expressing dissatisfaction, emphasizing that the established social norm does not even cover the needs of an average family, forcing people to pay significantly more for exceeding the limit. Additionally, it does not take into account the summer period when everyone actively uses air conditioners.
Alisher Kodirov, the leader of the "Milliy Tiklanish" political party and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, stated that the new electricity tariffs should be seen as assistance, not a demand.
According to him, the price of 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity is 990 UZS.
"The decision to sell up to 200 kilowatts at 450 UZS and up to 1000 kilowatts at 900 UZS should be accepted as assistance, not as a demand!
The faster the energy sector transitions to market relations, the faster our economy will grow, people's incomes will increase, job opportunities will expand, and, of course, the supply systems will meet the demand," Kodirov wrote.
Earlier, the Minister of Energy had reported that despite an increase in the number of subscribers after the new tariffs were introduced, electricity consumption in May decreased by 324 million kWh compared to the same period last year.
