Tokayev urges Central Asian states to unite in defense and security efforts

Kazakhstan will not change its position on the inviolability of its territorial integrity. This was stated by Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in an article published in the "Egemen Qazaqstan" newspaper.

"Maintaining peace and stability not only in Central Asia but also in neighboring regions is a crucial condition for long-term prosperity and development. One of the priorities of Kazakhstan's foreign policy is the effort to maintain this balance. We consistently adhere to the principle that 'Peace is more precious than anything else.' As a responsible member of the international community, Kazakhstan firmly believes in the necessity of adhering to the principles of international law, respecting sovereignty, and ensuring that territorial integrity is not violated. I can confidently say that many states share this view. Many countries have similar positions. All of this is based on the establishment of a fair and predictable world order. This stance creates the groundwork for forming a constructive outlook on the future in today's turbulent times," Tokayev wrote.

The Kazakh leader reminded that a complex military-political situation continues to exist near the region.

"In the current situation, where a complex military-political environment persists around Central Asia, the need for joint action in defense policy and security has emerged. It is crucial to create a regional security system, including developing a list of issues related to Central Asian security and taking preventive measures. Establishing a unified security space in Central Asia, considering comprehensive approaches to addressing the key problems related to combating existing and emerging threats, and discussing the measures to be taken when such threats arise—along with cooperation in this regard with the UN and other international organizations—should be a priority for the region's states. Additionally, it is vital to actively establish cooperation with regional organizations," the article stated.
