Uzbekistan ratifies ILO Part-Time Work Convention
Discrimination against part-time workers in terms of wages and social guarantees is prohibited.
The Senate has approved the ratification of the ILO Part-Time Work Convention, according to the press service of the upper house of Oliy Majlis.
The convention was adopted in Geneva in 1994. The document aims to ensure proper working conditions for part-time employees and protect them from discrimination in wages and social security.
Part-time workers should not receive less pay than full-time workers when calculated hourly or based on output, proportionate to their working hours or production volume.
Conditions for paid leave, sick leave, and maternity leave for part-time workers should be equivalent to those for full-time employees. Additionally, they should have equal rights in areas such as occupational safety and hygiene, as well as collective agreements.
To date, the document has been ratified by 20 countries, including Australia, Finland, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Senators noted that Uzbekistan's accession to the agreement would contribute to the implementation of international labor standards and the protection of part-time workers' rights.
Since the beginning of the year, Uzbekistan has become a party to several ILO agreements, including the Convention on Wage Protection and the Convention on the Protection of Workers with Family Responsibilities.
