Uzbekistan sees 16% rise in official mobile phone imports in first half of 2024
In the first half of the year, more than 1.8 million mobile phones were imported into Uzbekistan.
According to the Statistics Agency, the volume of official imports increased by 16% compared to the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, the total value of these imports grew by 59.2%, reaching $171.1 million.
China remains the absolute leader in terms of supply. Since the beginning of the year, around 1.5 million devices have been imported from there, representing an 8.7% increase from last year.
Vietnam continues to hold second place, with 288.8 thousand phones imported. Imports from Vietnam nearly doubled compared to the first half of last year and have already surpassed the total for 2023.
India rounded out the top three with 42.8 thousand devices, three times more than the previous year. Another 16.8 thousand phones, accounting for just under 1% of the total imports, were brought in through Hong Kong.
The official mobile phone imports for 2023 amounted to 3.4 million units, with over 90% coming from China. Vietnam and India also made it into the top three, while imports through the UAE sharply declined and nearly stopped by the end of the year.
