Central Bank alerts public to fraudulent calls and fake Telegram accounts

There have been cases in Uzbekistan where fraudsters call citizens, pretending to be employees of the Central Bank, and attempt to gain their trust.

Moreover, fraudsters add citizens to a fake support chat under the name "O'zbekiston Respublikasi Markaziy banki (cb_uzbek)" in Telegram, supposedly created by the Central Bank. They then obtain information about citizens' bank cards and steal their funds.

The Central Bank emphasizes that it has no connection to such messages or accounts and reminds the public that the Central Bank does not issue loans to individuals and does not provide financial services.

“Citizens are advised to ignore such messages and not to share their bank card information with third parties, as well as to avoid clicking on any links. When using social media, it is recommended to follow only the verified pages of the regulator,” the statement reads.
