Gov’t to allocate over 2 trillion UZS for financing successful “Initiative Budget” projects
Within the framework of the “Initiative Budget”, a break will be announced for the next two seasons for the mahallas (organizations) that have won twice in a row in recent seasons.
On August 22 of this year, the voting stage began within the second season of the “Initiative Budget” process. A press conference was held at the AIMC with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the mass media.
As Shokhrukh Eshonkulov, Deputy Director of the State Budget Policy Department under the Ministry of Economy and Finance noted, the activity of citizens in organizing the “Initiative Budget” process shows that this project is more important.
“This season, more than 27,000 projects have been put forward by citizens. More than 23,000 of them were selected in accordance with the criteria set by the working groups and submitted to the voting process. More than 2 trillion UZS are expected to be allocated to finance the winning projects. The difference between the current season and previous seasons is that now the “Initiative Budget” processes are conducted in 4 stages.
That is, it is planned to hold the proposal submission stage from July 6 to 26, the moderation stage from July 26 to August 15, the promotion stage for shortlisted projects from August 15 to August 22, and the voting stage for shortlisted projects from August 22 to September 1. As we all know, the principle of “One citizen – one vote” has been introduced since the 1st season of the 2024 “Initiative Budget” processes. This represents the one-time participation of every citizen in voting,” Shohrukh Eshonkulov says.
In order to create a chance to win for all mahallas, a break will be announced for the next two seasons for the mahallas (organizations) that have won twice in a row in the last seasons within the framework of “Initiative Budget”. The possibility of entering a project for these mahallas will be limited. This procedure, that is, the practice of applying a break, will be applied from the 2nd season of 2025.
