Uzbekistan-Iran Business Forum kicks off in Tashkent
Tashkent is hosting the Uzbekistan-Iran Business Forum.
This event is organized with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tehran, the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Tashkent city administration, and the Iranian side.
Participants include Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Samad Hassan Zadeh, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Mining, and Agriculture of Iran, as well as heads of relevant ministries and agencies and representatives from over 200 business entities from both countries.
The main theme of the forum is to strengthen bilateral ties between the business communities of Uzbekistan and Iran, which will be a decisive factor for the further development of investment and trade-economic cooperation.
In 2023, the mutual trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $503.4 million, with exports totaling $180.6 million and imports $322 million. From January to August 2024, the trade turnover reached $314.7 million, with exports of $105.9 million and imports of $208.8 million.
Currently, there are 268 enterprises with Iranian capital operating in Uzbekistan, of which 121 are joint ventures and 147 are foreign-owned.
It is worth noting that another business forum will take place in the ancient city of Khiva on September 20.
