Uzbekistan to supply special footwear to Hungary for $2.5 million
Italian specialists will assist in the development of the leather cluster in Akhangaran.
Uzbek leather enterprises signed several agreements at the international Lineapelle exhibition in Milan, according to the press service of the Uzcharmsanoat association.
The delegation of Uzbekistan showcased samples of footwear and leather goods at the event and held negotiations with representatives from various companies. Discussions included both raw material and finished product exports.
The Peng Sheng factory in the Syrdarya region presented shoe samples to suppliers from Portugal, Turkey, India, and Indonesia. Notably, a Chinese distributor, Tommy Hilfiger, expressed interest in products made with non-toxic materials.
Leather producer Hamkor Nur Savdo reached agreements to sell raw (wet blue) and dried (crust) materials to the Portuguese company Azpiel and the Spanish company Incusa. The company also signed an export contract with an Italian firm worth $2 million.
Another Uzbek company, Ulkan Laziz, concluded negotiations to supply special footwear to the Hungarian Tisza Cipo Group. During an upcoming visit to Hungary, a contract worth $2.5 million is expected to be signed.
Additionally, the delegation discussed providing technical support to enterprises with the National Association of Footwear and Leather Goods Manufacturers of Italy (Assomac). Plans are in place to open a service center in Uzbekistan to expand this support.
Assomac will also serve as a technical partner for the leather industrial zone in the Akhangaran district of Tashkent region. Experts will provide consultations on cluster development and project placement.
Acting head of Uzcharmsanoat Akbar Sultanov discussed the supply of chemicals used in production with the leadership of the Iranian Leather Industry Association. Iran also plans to purchase processed sheep skins from Uzbekistan.
