Uzbekistan to establish 10 new industry laboratories to boost product standards

According to the presidential press service, Uzbekistan has adopted 12,000 standards in recent years, with over 1,000 international standards introduced since the start of 2024 alone. To ensure the safety and quality of products, 29 technical regulations have also been developed.

"Currently, the results of testing are internationally recognized in only 64 out of the 269 laboratories in Uzbekistan, which forces entrepreneurs to conduct additional tests when exporting products," the report noted.

In light of this, President Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of increasing the number of internationally accredited laboratories. The new laboratories will focus on sectors such as electrical engineering, construction materials, and mechanical engineering.

The president also highlighted the necessity of aligning local technical regulations with international standards, particularly in the context of Uzbekistan’s aspirations to join the World Trade Organization (WTO).

As part of these efforts, Uzbekistan plans to develop 340 national standards by the end of 2024, with 38 more set to be completed by 2025. The work of 28 technical committees and laboratories will also be digitized, supported by the launch of an electronic platform called "Technical Regulation."
