Two arrested in Tashkent for selling $43,750 worth of counterfeit medicine

Law enforcement authorities in Tashkent have arrested two individuals for attempting to sell 4,000 boxes of counterfeit medication, "Hitofer-S 5 ml," valued at $43,750.

The suspects, identified as A.A. and D.A., were caught during a special operation conducted by the Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, in cooperation with the State Security Service (SSS) and the Customs Committee, on Chorbog Street in the Chilonzor district.

The suspects were apprehended while illegally selling the fake medication, which was accompanied by a fraudulent certification, to a buyer named M.Kh. The medication in question was seized as physical evidence during the operation.

Subsequent expert analysis confirmed that the seized drugs were counterfeit. The investigation has led to the opening of a criminal case under Article 186-3 of the Criminal Code, which deals with the production, storage, transportation, or sale of substandard or counterfeit medicines or medical items.

Investigative actions are currently underway as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the crime.
