Uzbekistan and Italy discuss prospects for expanding bilateral strategic partnership

Uzbekistan's Ambassador, Abat Fayzullaev, held talks with Fabrizio Saggio, Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Italy, to discuss the future of bilateral strategic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Italian side expressed satisfaction with the steady progress in the Uzbekistan-Italy strategic partnership. This development has been fueled by high-level visits in 2023, economic and cultural events held in 2024, and the exchange of business missions. Both sides emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation in key areas such as politics, trade, economics, culture, and humanitarian projects.

Italy highlighted its interest in enhancing cooperation, particularly in preserving historical and cultural heritage and unlocking the economic potential of Uzbekistan and Central Asia. Additionally, the Italian side noted Uzbekistan’s beneficiary status under the European Union’s Generalized System of Preferences (GSP+) and its ambitions to develop industrial cooperation with Italy in sectors such as textiles, agriculture, and green energy. These factors make Uzbekistan an attractive partner for Italian and European entrepreneurs alike.

The two sides also agreed to strengthen collaboration between Uzbekistan's diplomatic mission and the office of the Italian Prime Minister to organize joint initiatives.
