Afghanistan plans to boost oil production in Amu Darya Basin with new wells

Afghanistan is set to increase oil production in the Amu Darya Basin by drilling 25 new wells, aiming to raise daily output to 3,000 tons, according to TOLOnews.

Currently, 24 active wells in the basin produce an average of 1,300 tons of oil per day, all of which is refined domestically to supply the local market with petroleum products.

Despite these efforts, Afghanistan's internal resources currently meet only 10% of its oil needs.

To support the expansion, Afghan authorities are seeking international investment and plan to procure additional drilling equipment from foreign suppliers, as noted by industry experts.
