Uzbekistan to launch direct passenger and cargo flights to Tanzania
Uzbekistan and Tanzania have signed an agreement to establish direct passenger and cargo flights between the two countries. The deal was formalized by aviation authorities from both nations during the ICAN 2024 conference, aiming to enhance connectivity and promote tourism and trade.
According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport, the agreement includes 21 weekly passenger flights, with additional routes planned for cargo transportation.
This partnership marks a significant milestone for Uzbekistan, as Tanzania is a completely new destination for Uzbek travelers. With popular attractions like Zanzibar — known for its clear, turquoise waters and resemblance to the Maldives — the African country presents an appealing opportunity for Uzbek tourists seeking exotic destinations.
For Tanzania, flights to Uzbekistan could open up new prospects in pilgrimage tourism, which is of interest to travelers from the African region. This new route is expected to foster a closer cultural and economic relationship between the two nations while expanding Uzbekistan’s global connectivity.
