The flag bearers for the Uzbekistan delegation have been announced.
On August 13, a ceremony was held at the Museum of Olympic and Paralympic Glory to send off the Uzbekistan delegation to the XVII Summer Paralympic Games in Paris.
The XVII Summer Paralympic Games will take place in Paris, France, from August 28 to September 8.
At the event, Husniddin Norbekov and Mohigul Hamdamova were named as the flag bearers for the Uzbekistan delegation.
For these games, 65 Uzbek para-athletes have secured a total of 113 licenses across 9 sports (para athletics, para taekwondo, para shooting, para-swimming, para canoe, para-rowing, para judo, para powerlifting, and para-cycling). This marks a record number of licenses in the history of Uzbekistan's Paralympics.
Notably, 29 of the 65 para-athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games, or 45%, are women.
For the first time, Uzbekistan’s delegation will compete in para-cycling at the games in the French capital. Two para cyclists will represent Uzbekistan in 8 cycling events at the XVII Summer Paralympic Games.
Shahina Yigitalieva, a member of the national para-athletics team, will be the youngest athlete in Uzbekistan's history to participate in the Paralympic Games. She was born on October 19, 2008.
