The Uzhydromet agency alerted several regions in Uzbekistan to the danger of avalanches from February 6 to 12.

The agency forecasts that on February 7-8, 2024, heavy snowfall, sporadic precipitation, and fog are expected along the A-373 Tashkent-Osh highway, particularly across the Kamchik pass. This could decrease visibility to 50 meters and increase wind speeds up to 15-20 m/s, leading to slippery conditions and potential snowdrifts on the roads.

The precipitation expected between February 6 and 12, coupled with fluctuating temperatures, heightens avalanche risks in the following mountainous areas of the republic including:

- Kashkadarya region: Dehkanabad, Kitab, Kamashi, and Shahrisabz districts;
- Surkhandarya region: Boysun, Kumkurgan, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts;
- Samarkand region: Bulungur, Nurobod, Kushrabot, Samarkand, and Urgut districts;
- Jizzakh region: Bakhmal and Zomin districts;
- Tashkent region: Bostanlyk, Parkent, Akhangaran districts (Chatkal range);
- Namangan region: Pop district.

Authorities urge the public residing in mountainous and foothill areas, visitors to recreational sites, and drivers traversing these regions to exercise caution.

The notice calls for adherence to safety measures to avoid potential dangers associated with the inclement weather forecasted in these vulnerable areas.
