Uzbekistan's regions forge new ties with Italy's Lombardy
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Abat Fayzullaev, met in Milan with Attilio Fontana, the governor of Italy's leading region, Lombardy.
During the talks, the governor emphasized Lombardy's interest in fostering extensive and mutually beneficial relations with Uzbekistan.
He expressed keen interest and readiness to support broad-based collaboration with Uzbekistan, particularly making full use of all opportunities to develop trade, industry, tourism, healthcare, and educational interactions with regions such as Samarkand.
An agreement was reached with the Lombardy administration to organize business trips for representatives of Uzbek textile, leather and footwear, furniture, and jewelry enterprises to this Italian region.
Lombardy stands out as a significant industrial and financial hub of Italy. The region accounts for 22% of the country's Gross Domestic Product, and its export volumes represent 26% of Italy's exports.
Lombardy's industry focuses on electromechanics, automobiles, transport vehicles, and chemical product manufacturing. It is home to the major bank 'Unicredit', the Milan Stock Exchange, and the 'Fiera Milano' exhibition complex.
