Criminal wanted for human trafficking and fraud deported from Türkiye to Uzbekistan
A 45-year-old man who was wanted on charges of fraud and human trafficking was deported from Türkiye to Uzbekistan, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported.
Ozod Rakhimov was detained in Istanbul on May 6 during another joint event between law enforcement agencies of Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
Allegedly, in 2022-2023, he fraudulently misappropriated a large amount of money from residents of the Samarkand region. While in Istanbul, he promised to send several citizens of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to the United States along the route “Türkiye – Spain – Nicaragua – Mexico” and took 10-15 thousand dollars from each of them, which he used for personal interests.
Citizens affected by the actions of this man are asked to contact the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul or the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The consulate noted an increased number of requests regarding cases of fraud related to obtaining a visa to travel to the USA, Canada or European countries and asked citizens to be careful.
