Over 7,500 citizens of Uzbekistan granted residency permits in Lithuania, second only to Belarus

Lithuania ranked first in the EU in 2023 for the growth rate of temporary residency permits issued, with a rise of 79.5%.

In 2023, more than 7,500 citizens of Uzbekistan received residency permits in Lithuania, Kaktus.media reported citing Eurostat data.

According to the report, a total of over 56,000 foreigners were granted residency permits in Lithuania. The majority came from the following countries:

- Belarus: 16,174 people;
- Uzbekistan: 7,580 people;
- Kyrgyzstan: 5,086 people;
- Tajikistan: 4,960 people;
- India: 3,819 people;
- Other countries: 18,454 people.

Additionally, Lithuania ranked first in the EU in 2023 for the growth rate of temporary residency permits issued, with a rise of 79.5%. Croatia was second with a 41.9% increase, and Romania third with a 34.9% increase.

Significant declines in the issuance of temporary residency permits were observed in the Czech Republic (-18.6%) and Cyprus (-10.9%).
