Yandex Uzbekistan expands with acquisition of Express24 assets, plans to build unified food delivery platform

Once finalized, the deal will integrate Yandex Go's Eats service with Express24 on a single technological platform. According to a release from Yandex Uzbekistan provided to Gazeta.uz, this merger aims to increase order density, allowing couriers to complete more deliveries and, consequently, earn higher income. Additionally, the platform’s enhanced service aims to deliver orders faster and expand dining options for customers.

Express24’s partner restaurants will also benefit from an expanded delivery area and increased visibility on the new platform, providing more tools to promote their establishments.

Yandex Uzbekistan notified Uzbekistan’s Anti-Monopoly Committee of the deal, though the company stated that the transaction does not fall under regulatory thresholds requiring state approval for economic concentration. However, the Anti-Monopoly Committee confirmed it would release an official statement regarding the transaction.

Under Uzbekistan's competition law, state approval for transactions is mandatory if one of the entities involved has assets or annual revenue exceeding 250,000 times the Basic Rate Value (BRV) or a combined value of 500,000 BRV. In this case, Yandex Uzbekistan explained that these conditions do not apply to the Express24 acquisition.
