Uzbekistan introduces fines for electric scooter and moped violations
Uzbekistan has introduced new administrative penalties for drivers of small electric vehicles, including scooters and mopeds, according to recent amendments to the Administrative Code. The changes reflect the growing popularity of compact electric transport and aim to reduce accidents linked to their use.
Under Article 136 of the Administrative Code, drivers of scooters, mopeds, and similar personal transport devices who refuse alcohol, drug, or intoxication testing will face a fine of three base calculation units (BCUs). Furthermore, operating a scooter or personal transport device under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants will also incur a fine of three BCUs.
Additionally, drivers of these vehicles caught transporting passengers will be subject to a fine of 0.5 BCU.
These amendments were introduced in response to the increasing use of small electric transport vehicles and the associated need for preventive safety measures.
